Former Pittsburgh Penguin told officer ‘I’ll kill your wife, I’ll kill your daughter,’ used racial slurs: police
Police in Scottsdale, Arizona released Thursday bodycam footage of their July arrest of former Pittsburgh Penguins
forward Alex Galchenyuk and it isn’t pretty.
Police said they responded in July to a report of a possible hit-and-run, and found a man, who they say they later
identified as Galchenyuk, lying on the ground. Police said they found his father in the driver’s seat of a white BMW
on the scene, but per USA Today, they said they later determined that Galchenyuk was driving the vehicle when
they say a parking lot sign, a curb and another vehicle were hit
He also reportedly threatened to cut out the kidneys of one of the officer’s family members.
“I’ll kill your (expletive) wife, I’ll kill your (expletive) daughter,” he reportedly told an officer. “So drop me off
right here and you’ll never hear from me again.”
He also reportedly threatened to use his connections in Russia to harm an officer’s family.
“There’s gonna be one (expletive) phone call and you’ll never see your (expletive) family again,” he reportedly
said. “How scary is that? Holy (expletive), one phone call you’re dead. Your whole (expletive) bloodline is dead. How
nuts is that?”
The Arizona Coyotes terminated Galchenyuk’s contract shortly after the arrest, and the player did reportedly
apologize days later.
He is no longer in the NHL and is currently playing for SKA Petersburg in the Kontinental Hockey League
Galchenyuk was the third pick in the 2012 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.
